 Moored on a private jetty amongst the vines of Heriots Point Vineyard, just south of Franklin, sits the stunning 1948 Wooden Motor Cruiser ‘La Drone’ waiting to give you an unforgettable experience, showcasing what this beautiful area is all about. After a delightful stroll from the dedicated and spacious parking area, past the Chardonnay vines, and the boat shed, you will make your way down the steps ready to board the very comfortable and well-set-up La Drone. The classic vessel’s enclosed cabin boasts comfortable cushioned seating and is great for all weather conditions, being well-protected from rain, wind and cold.
The Huon Valley has some of the most scenic views in all of Tasmania, with the spectacular Wellington ranges as a backdrop, often embraced by fog and covered in snow in the winter, and the expansive open, often mirror glass calm river to the south. La Drone’s open back deck is the perfect place to take it all in, breathe in the fresh Tasmanian air and keep an eye out for the diverse range of birds that inhabit or migrate to the Valley.
As you meander upstream toward the township of Franklin, sipping on a locally produced hot or cold beverage and enjoying the tastes of the Huon with a tasting board of local produce in the afternoon or scone in the morning.
